Baggage Information

Baggage means a customer’s belongings or personal property deemed necessary or appropriate for wear, use, comfort or convenience during the trip. It includes both checked and unchecked baggage, unless stated otherwise. Items such as medicine, money, jewelry, negotiable papers, securities, valuables and documents will not be included in checked baggage, but should be carried by customer at all times. We recommend that you pack your belongings in proper suitcases to avoid damage to your luggage or its contents during the trip. All Baggage (Checked/Unchecked) must be X-rayed. We remind you to attach an English nametag, address and telephone number as they will be helpful for identification in case your baggage is lost during transportation. Garuda Indonesia offers you a blank nametag free of charge in all check-in counters.
General Baggage Rules
Baggage included in departure as passenger’s baggage may only contain such items or other property of a customer deemed necessary or appropriate for wear, use, comfort or convenience during the trip. Carriers have the right (except for diplomatic bags), but not the obligation, to verify the contents of passengers’ baggage in their presence.

Combined F, C or Y class travel
For through journeys where the passenger travels partly on F class and partly on C or Y class service, the free baggage allowance on each part of travel will be fixed according to the purchased ticket class; furthermore when a passenger who has paid the F class fare travels on C or Y class service, the free baggage allowance will be according to the F class. In certain cases, because of high excess baggage charges, it is recommended to travel at the F class fare for the whole journey.
Carry On Items
a. Free carry on items
In addition to the checked baggage allowance, each passenger may carry, without additional charges:
b. Chargeable carry on items
Any unchecked items in addition to the free carry on items are considered as cabin baggage. They must be included into the free baggage allowance. Carriers will limit the acceptance of such other carry-on items in the passenger cabin, conforming to security regulations and/or interline limitations.
Where an item fits the free carry-on items specifications, but does not visibly fit the descriptions, it has to be weighed in and included in the total weight.
