Category: Press Release (0 view)

The first of its kind in the world, the "Immigration on Board" service introduced by Garuda Indonesia together with Director General of Immigrations of the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights and BNI 46 was registered in the Museum Rekor Indonesia (MURI) as the first immigration document handing conducted in flight.

Garuda Indonesia is considered as the first and only airline company in the world with this kind of service, while Director General of the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights was registered as the only institution in the world to offer visa on arrival service on board an aircraft.

The MURI certificate was presented by the Chairman of MURI, Jaya Suprana to the Minister of Justice and Human Right, Patrialis Akbar and Garuda Indonesia President & CEO, Emirsyah Satar at the Financial Hall, Graha Niaga Building, Jakarta, on Tuesday (26/1).

"Immigration on Board" is an immigration document handling that issues Visa On Arrival on board a Garuda Indonesia flight conducted by designated immigration officers on every Garuda Indonesia flight on the Tokyo (Japan) to Denpasar and Jakarta (Indonesia) service.

To enjoy the Immigration on Board service, foreign travelers (Japanese citizens) are requested to purchase Visa on Arrival vouchers available at Garuda Indonesia check-in counters at Narita Airport, Tokyo. During flight, two immigration officers on board will conduct passport checks and issue Visa on Arrival and a special card that must be returned to ground immigration officers at the airport of arrival. Thanks to this new service, passengers will save time and enjoy hassle-free travel, without having to wait long queues at the immigration counters.

Garuda Indonesia President & CEO Emirsyah Satar admitted to being pleasantly surprised by the award from MURI. Initially, Garuda Indonesia introduced the service as part of ongoing efforts to improve service quality and facilitate foreign visitors to Indonesia. "We are delighted by this award from MURI, and we are very pleased that our innovative service was well received by customers and MURI alike", added Emir.

The Immigration on Board service differs from other immigration services that have been introduced on board. Previously, such services only gave stamps of entry. Immigration on Board, on the other hand, assures foreign visitors are issued with the necessary visa.
